Membership

The Society's membership scheme has been revised to reflect a significant higher level of professional achievement and accomplishment with the introduction of Senior Professional Qualifications (Snr.Prof.Q) pegged at the NQF levels 4 through 7. The Society's Senior Professional Qualifications have been developed for professionals who are looking for an internationally respected award that recognises their work based achievements. The membership assessment structure is comprehensive, progressive, and examinable via competence-based assignments.

Standard Membership

Standard Membership is open to persons occupied in business practice or business students who are considered suitable by the Membership Committee and in accordance with the conditions described below.

STUDENT (minimum age - 18 years)

Open to applicants who are following a course of study in preparation for the examinations of the SBP Diploma in Business Administration or an equivalent qualification. Applicants must also possess 4 GCSE passes at C Grade or higher, including one in English Language and two at A level (or equivalents).

Student Registration Number is issued to candidates. No Post Nominals.

MEMBER (minimum age - 23 years)

Full Membership status is open to applicants who have obtained the SBP Advanced Diploma in Business Administration, (or its equivalent) and can give evidence of holding an executive position in business practice for at least 3 years. Mature applicants with at least 5 years senior executive experience will be considered but may be asked to complete a thesis of at least 7,000 words on an agreed business topic and on which entry will depend.

Post Nominals : MSBP

CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL MANAGER (minimum age - 25 years)

Membership exclusively for holders of the Society's Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration and at least 3 years full-time experience in business administration management.

Post Nominals : CPM

FELLOW (Minimum age - 40 years)

Senior level membership for members or non-members who have demonstrated a high level of achievement in business practice and possess an acceptable level of qualification equal to the Society's Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration.

Post Nominals: FSocBP

HON. FELLOW (minimum age - 35 years)

Honorary Membership may be offered to any person who, in the opinion of the Membership Council, has rendered outstanding service to the Society or to business practice or business education and who usually holds a senior level of qualification deemed acceptable to the SBP Board.

Professional Membership

The Senior Professional Qualifications (Snr. Prof. Q) are internationally recognised professional awards for business practitioners. Senior Professional Qualification (Snr. Prof. Q) Award Holders of the Society are entitled to use the following letters after their names:

Associateship......................... ASBP (Snr.Prof.Q)
Licentiateship......................... LSBP (Snr.Prof.Q)
Graduateship......................... GSBP (Snr.Prof.Q)
Fellowship.............................. FSBP (Snr.Prof.Q)

Society of Business Practitioners Associateship (ASBP), Licentiateship (LSBP), Graduateship (GSBP), and Fellowship (FSBP), recognise personal achievement and the application of professional knowledge in the workplace, allowing progression to the very highest levels of achievement.

These are certified competency-based Membership Awards and open to persons occupied in business practice who are considered suitable by the Membership Committee and in accordance with the conditions described under "Registration/Entry Requirements".

Associateship (ASBP)

The Associateship award is mapped to level 4 on the National Qualification Framework (NQF).

Registration/Entry Requirements

  1. Must be 21 years of age or over
  2. Must be a Registered Student or Member of the Society
  3. Must have the following:

* 4 GCSE or GCE passes at Grade C or higher, one of which must be in English Language OR its equivalent.
* Must have at least 2 years work experience

NOTE: The Society's Membership Committee may, at its discretion, allow exemption from the above entry requirements to mature candidates aged 25 years or over, possessing an adequate level of education and practical business experience.

Licentiateship (LSBP)

The Licentiateship award is at a supervisory/junior management level and mapped to level 5 on the National Qualification Framework (NQF).

Registration/Entry Requirements

  1. Must be 23 years or over
  2. Must have obtained the Society's ASBP Diploma (or its equivalent)
  3. Must have at least 3 years work experience at supervisory level.

NOTE: Direct entry is available to candidates who have been exempted from the Associateship level.

Graduateship (GSBP)

The Graduateship award is at a middle management level and is mapped to a British Honours degree and level 6 on the National Qualification Framework (NQF).

Registration/Entry Requirements

  1. Must be 28 years or over
  2. Must have The Society's LSBP Diploma (or its equivalent)
  3. Must have at least 5 years work experience at senior supervisory level.

NOTE: Direct entry is available to candidates who have been exempted from the Licentiateship level.

Fellowship (FSBP)

The highest level of professional achievement. It is at the strategic management/leadership level and is pegged at level 7 of the National Qualification Framework (NQF).

Registration/Entry Requirements

  1. Must be 40 years or over
  2. Must have The Society's GSBP Diploma (or its equivalent)
  3. Must have at least 10 years work experience at senior managerial level.
  4. Must have rendered outstanding contribution to the Society work or to business practice and/or business education.

NOTE: Direct entry is strictly restricted to candidates who are deemed by the Society's Membership Committee to be eminently qualified.
